Week 1 and I have a new event to prepare for…
This week’s blog is brought to you by Ian Gillan screaming out Child In Time , because I am waiting for the Ricochet
Wait for the Ricochet
Monday 27 April 2015
So my training towards the Virgin London Marathon 2015 ended in injury and I have deferred my entry to 2016, so you will all have to go through that training programme again. Now my attention turns to another event, Ricochet, another of the SAS Test Marches being run by Avalanche Endurance Events. All I need is the date…
I had a very full day of work in the office so whatever training I might have been able to do with my right leg still in pieces was impossible due to a lack of time. Not the best start to this new training plan then.
Tuesday 28 April 2015
And the date for Ricochet has been announced ! 15 August has gone straight into my diary, as have 19 and 20 September for the two Elan Test Marches, and Long Drag will be either at the end of October or the beginning of November, so I am keeping both free. So I now have a definite target for this training programme and can focus on Ricochet, then do some fine tuning over the next two months.
I was travelling to Disneyland ! For a business meeting. On the plus side, the hotel had a gym and pool, so I took my swimming trunks. And then all hell broke loose, corporately speaking, and a very late night meant no visit to the gym or the pool. I did get to see 300 and 300 : Rise Of An Empire on one of the channels on the television in my hotel room, which was a silver lining.

I had an early morning conference call which prevented me from doing any exercise before the rest of the business day unfolded and we made our way back to the safe shores of Blighty. I had done nothing over the previous two days and yet my right leg felt worse than ever, and the pain had moved up into my thigh. I had probably just sat around too much.
Thursday 30 April 2015
I woke up with my leg still aching and had to face the prospect of an hour’s drive each way into the office because we were moving desks. That move did not go ahead, so I could have saved myself that grief.
Friday 01 May 2015
It came as no surprise to me that my leg was still aching, but I had to go through the two hours of driving again, which certainly did not help it.
Saturday 02 May 2015
Debbie had a concert today, so my time was devoted to that. My leg was still not right, so I could not have done anything anyway. At times it hurt just to move it, so any exercise was out of the question.
Sunday 03 May 2015
In the aftermath of the excellent concert we had a lazy day.
Positives from this week – my right leg did not fall off.
