Did everyone enjoy Celebr8.2 ? Did you all come away with a Shineback flyer ?
Bad Elephant Music
It would be fair to say that we at BEM thoroughly enjoyed Celebr8.2 and big thanks must go to Twang, Geoff and Bob for all that they did to make it happen. However, on a very serious note, they still need to bring in some money to break even and I cannot imagine that anyone who reads this blog would want to see them make a loss on such an excellent festival. So for this week only I am going to encourage you to buy something else before directing you towards a BEM product – head over to The Merch Desk to buy a copy of the limited edition programme before they sell out – the 2 free cds that come with it are brilliant and include an exclusive edit of the track Fears Aren’t Toys from the debut Shineback album, Rise Up Forgotten, Return Destroyed, featuring the most excellent Dec Burke on lead guitar. This edit will not be legally available anywhere else ever, so you really should make sure you get hold of a copy of the programme before they do sell out. You can purchase a copy from The Merch Desk now, by clicking here.
You might have seen Simon Godfrey at Celebr8.2, either wandering around enjoying the music of others or actually performing on the acoustic stage on Sunday. I will be writing a full review of the Sunday, including his soundcheck, cabaret and set and will let you know when that is available to read.
He did play a Shineback track, Faultlines, and it appeared to go down very well with the
The track Passengers was released as a free download on 6 May.
You can still get it here and it will not cost you a penny. You’re very welcome.
Do not forget that co-producer Tim Lawrie has put together an album teaser sampler for you on Soundcloud, which you can hear here.
You should also not forget that the I Have Good Days, I Have Bad Days download track is only available if you pre-order the Shineback album. It will not ever be available from any other legal sources once pre-orders close. You can pre-order the Shineback album from The Merch Desk at their website here.
And Elkie says Buy Shineback ! and you would not want to disappoint her…
The Fierce And The Dead
TFATD were in the studio from Friday until Monday, and I was lucky enough to be able to spend my Monday lunchtime with them.
You can read all about that here.
Matt Stevens also managed to fit in some appearances at Celebr8.2 on the acoustic stage on the Sunday, a solo set and an absolutely brilliant duet with Mr. Andy Tillison of The Tangent, both of which I will cover in my review of the Sunday. Steve Cleaton was there with Matt, which was fortunate for me because it meant I recognised him on the Monday – you will have to read the blog here to understand just how important that was.
I also met Mike Morton at Celebr8.2, which was clearly the place to be for Prog celebs over the weekend. We had a very interesting conversation and you will hear more about that in due course.
That’s all for now – see you here next week !
