The Virgin Money London Marathon 2015 training : Week 11

Week 11 and I just need to do something, anything…

This week’s blog is brought to you by Pegasus, because I am going to use the circuit training part of the Spartan Paratrooper (High Level) Programme of The Para Fitness Guide to keep me going while I am still unable to run.

Better right knee than me

Monday 16 March 2015

I still cannot run on my right knee and will not be able to see a physio for another week.  I realised that in this training programme I have been so focused on the running that the general fitness side of things has dropped away as my time for fitness training has been limited by work.  I decided that had to change this week and I would be using the circuit from week 8 of the Spartan Paratrooper (High Level) Programme of The Para Fitness Guide to achieve that (and taking the repetitions up to 25 from 24), which meant 4 x 25 press ups, 4 x 25 dips, 4 x 25 sit ups, 4 x 25 squats, and 4 x 70 second planks.

I did another Para Fitness circuit and I am enjoying it.

I walked with Debbie to her rehearsal, which meant carrying her bassoon on the initial way there and on the final way back, and put in a Para Fitness circuit inbetween.

I did another Para Fitness circuit and was beginning to wonder how I had let this slip from my usual routine.

Friday 20 March 2015

I had work meetings today and that made it into a day of rest, apart from the walks between platforms when catching connecting trains.

Saturday 21 March 2015

Debbie was running her first half-marathon and I went along with her and took some photographs of her in different locations around the course at Dorney Lake.  That meant I ended up walking about 10km myself, and Debbie put in a brilliant performance, coming home in 2 hours and 18 minutes.  It was also Debbie’s birthday so in the evening we went out for a steak dinner.

We went into London for Debbie’s birthday, and this became another rest day.

Positives from this week – I got back to doing some basic exercise.
