We have decided to do Veganuary again this year. There are many reasons to give it a go, although I have to admit that the animals are not my reason. The health and nutrition aspects are more interesting to me at the moment. And with that said, I should warn you that what I am doing is only in respect of the food and drink aspects of veganism, I may well blur the lines between being vegan and vegetarian, but unless the menu makes it completely impossible, I will be avoiding meat and fish for the month of January, and I will be keeping a weekly blog to track it.

I weighed myself this morning and I am 100.9 kgs.
I have to be honest. Looking back at my Veganuary blog from last week, it was pretty boring, so I am determined to do more this week and go out with a bang ! I began the day with that new thing I mentioned at the end of last week, and now all can be revealed – which instantly makes this blog more interesting than the one from last week ! It is something which I saw on Matt Ollie Ollerton’s page on Facebook and which I have decided to try.
Be interesting to see what this does…
I got into the office, filled my water bottle, and started on getting two litres of water through me. I had big fitness training plans for this week so I had to stay hydrated. I ate an apple and banana for lunch, then ate a mix of cashew nuts and raisins during my drive home. We had a delicious evening meal, a Linda McCartney chana masala vegcake with sweet potato wedges, red pepper, spring onion and salad leaves.

This week is not turning out any different to the others. After starting the day with my lemon drink, I spent the rest of it snacking on gluten free cereals and nuts.

I started my day with the lemon drink, and then later in the morning finally tried the oats and chia, banana and mango porridge from The Chia Co I had bought. It was simple to make it in a cup and it tasted very good.
I also tried a Sainsbury’s My Goodness ! Smoky Tomato & Butternut Squash Quinoa to which I added all of my supplements, and it was delicious. Something to consider as a quick snack in the future.

I started my day with the lemon drink and have quickly got into that good habit. In the evening we enjoyed a green Thai vegetable curry with rice, and I followed that up with a peppermint tea.

And so Veganuary came to an end, more with a whimper than the bang I had hoped for. All the same, it had been a very interesting month. I was left feeling better, feeling healthier, and having lost weight. Now I need to keep to the healthy habits I have had to adopt through the month. To be perfectly honest, I cannot see me turning Vegan because it is just too much hassle trying to work out if something is Vegan or not. I am much more likely to become vegetarian with the occasional fish and seafood, and the less occasional meat. Even that will be a big improvement, I feel.
